Bo Nix looking forward to ‘long weekend’ after Broncos beat Chiefs late

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix has been clutch for most of the season.

He kept that up on Christmas night against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Nix threw a touchdown to RJ Harvey with under two minutes go, helping the Broncos break a 13-13 tie and leave Arrowhead Stadium with a 20-13 victory.

Denver is now 13-3 on the year and will be the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a win next weekend against the Chargers.

Postgame, Bo Nix was happy with the result against Kansas City, while also looking forward to Denver’s mine-bye before a potentially huge showdown with Los Angeles.

“It’ll be good to have rest, it’ll be a good long weekend for us,” Nix said.

And that game against the Chargers could be for the AFC West. If Houston beats L.A. on Saturday, Denver clinches the division for the first time since 2015. If not, the contest at Empower Field will be for all the marbles.

“At the end of the day, none of it really matters because we have to play the final game and we have to take care of it. They’re going to be a good football team, now some other team could help us along the way, but at the end of the day it’s going to come down to us versus them,” Nix said.

That’s the right attitude from Bo Nix, not counting on help from Houston, instead thinking it’ll be in the Broncos’ own hands.

“We’re excited to have them at home. It’s going to be a really good environment. It’s going to be a great atmosphere and honestly it’s playoff time,” Nix said.

Against the Chiefs, Nix went 26-38 for 182 yards and a touchdown. He also added nine carries for 42 yards and another touchdown. He did have one interception, but it was on a tipped ball and not really his fault.

And even though the Broncos want to soak this one in, you can tell Bo Nix is already pumped for Week 18.

“It’s going to be a good nine days of preparation. And on the 10th days it’s all you’ve got for four quarters or however long it takes,” Nix said.
