Big 12 announces three more kickoff times and TV designations for CU football

Get your coffee ready, Buffs fans. The Big 12 Conference released more kickoff times and TV designations for the 2025 football season, highlighted by the reveal for three different games for Coach Prime and CU.

Three more game times for Colorado football have been announced by the Big 12:
Sept. 6 vs. Delaware, 1:30 pm MT (Fox)
Sept. 12 at Houston, 5:30 pm MT (ESPN)
Sept. 27 vs. BYU, 8:15 pm MT (ESPN)

The most notable game in this announcement is when the BYU Cougars come to Boulder on Sept. 27, as that game is in the 8:15 p.m. ESPN window. For Buffs fans who have been around since the start of the Prime era, they know that the game actually won’t start until closer to 8:30 that night, and will go deep into the night at Folsom Field.

That matchup is one of the most anticipated for CU throughout the entire season, as it will be a chance of revenge against the Cougars, who embarrassed the Buffaloes 36-14 in the Alamo Bowl back in December. While the two rosters will look a lot different than they did in San Antonio, the goal of revenge will still be the priority for the Buffs.

The game against the Houston Cougars on Sept. 12 is another Friday night kickoff, the second time the Buffs will play on Friday night in the first three weeks of the season.  That game will kick from the Lone Star State at 5:30 p.m. MDT on ESPN (will actually start closer to 5:45 p.m.).

What should please Colorado fans the most is the time for the Week 2 matchup against the Delaware Blue Hens. While that might not be the most-high profile matchup of the season, it starts at the most favorable time for Colorado fans, with a 1:30 p.m. start time.

All of Colorado’s home games in 2024 were either first thing in the morning or the last thing at night. While they played a handful of road games in the mid-day FOX window, not a single one came at Folsom Field. Even in 2023, the first year of the Prime era, the Buffs only had one mid-day game at home, the home finale against the Arizona Wildcats. That game kicked off at noon local time but was only televised on Pac-12 Network.

The last time that the Buffs played a 1:30 p.m. game at Folsom Field was back in 2022 when Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos came to town. Nix had two passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown en route to a 49-10 victory over the 1-11 Buffaloes.

This announcement now makes it official that 25 of the 29 announced games of the Coach Prime era will be national TV games, just another indicator of how drastically he has changed the program since his arrival in 2022.

So far, all 4 of Colorado's announced games for 2025 are on national network TV or ESPN. That's 25 out of 29 during the Coach Prime era, including a school-record 13 in 2024 (breaking the mark of 8 in 2023). Prior to his arrival, the most in a season was 7 in 1990. #cubuffs

More kickoff times will be released soon as summer draws closer along with the 2025 season. August 29 is just 92 days away, the day that CU fans will get their first look at the Buffaloes with Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter and plenty more names who were vital in bringing the program back to prominence.
