Coach Prime shuts down question about health issues

One of the biggest storylines for the Colorado Buffaloes this summer has been the health of head coach Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders. Sanders has been down at his estate in Texas as he’s fought the health issues, and has not been able to be in Boulder for workouts, recruiting visits, camps and anything else that’s related to CU football.

He did deliver an update via social media shortly after the news came out about his health, but still didn’t disclose anything about what he was actually fighting.

Prime spoke to the media for the first time on Wednesday since the health issues were reported, and was asked about them. He quickly shut it down.

“I’m not here to talk about my health, I’m here to talk about my team,” Sanders said with a big smile on his face.

He was then asked about what his days have looked like at home while he’s been ill, and he kept that answer short and sweet as well.

“Average day, I’m looking good, I’m living lovely. God has truly blessed me, not a care in the world, not a want or desire in the world,” Prime said, still grinning from ear to ear..

Preseason camp is just around the corner for the Buffs, and they need their head coach and leader in town in order to be properly prepared for when Georgia Tech comes to town Week 1. That team went toe-to-toe with Georgia a season ago, and have the potential to be even better than they were in 2024.

While Prime didn’t go into any detail about his health woes, he sure seemed like a healthy man. At his press conference at Big 12 Media Days, he was energetic, upbeat and had a smile on his face for most of the session. He looked ready to take on the challenge of coaching in a loaded Big 12 Conference, and seemed excited to get the season underway.
