Nothing seems to go right for the 8-41 Colorado Rockies as they are on track to being one of the worst teams in the history of baseball. On Thursday morning, the club got another bit of bad news to add to the laundry list bad things that have happened through the first third of the season.

Chase Dollander, the Rockies young starting pitcher who has the most wins on the team, is headed to the injured list with forearm tightness on his throwing arm. He last threw on Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, allowing just one earned run in 4.2 innings on a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. However, he threw 98 pitches despite only getting 14 outs, as it wasn’t the most efficient day on the mound.

Outside of that one slip up in the first inning, he allowed two other hits and struck out six players with pitches like this heater up in the zone.

To no one’s surprise, the offense wasn’t able to score a single run, and Dollander was credited with the loss.

Dollander has posted a 6.28 ERA in eight appearances this season, and has posted a 2-5 record. His 29 earned runs allowed and 38 strikeouts are both the second-best mark out of the five pitchers in Colorado’s starting rotation. The young arm out of Tennessee has showed some promise on the mound for Colorado this season, but has been susceptible to the home run ball when out on the diamond.

If all goes well with this IL stint, Dollander should be back for when Juan Soto and the New York Mets come to town in two weekends, one of just five teams who have already reached the 30-win mark this season.
