With RJ Harvey and Tyler Badie both on injured reserve, the Broncos needed another running back for insurance behind Jonah Coleman and J.K. Dobbins, so, they brought in a running back as one of three additions to their practice squad on Tuesday.
That back is Jaret Patterson, who saw regular-season work in the 2021 and 2022 seasons with Washington, and 41 carries over seven regular-season games played for the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2024 and 2025 campaigns after spending most of the 2023 season on their practice squad.
The 5-foot-8, 195-pound Patterson has 503 rushing yards on 126 career attempts, good for 4.0-yards-per-carry average, with three career touchdown runs. He also has 81 career receiving yards on 13 receptions.
The Broncos also added safety Ugo Amadi and defensive lineman Jordan Miller to their practice squad. Miller spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons on the Broncos’ practice squad, but was not brought back after being waived at the roster deadline this year, instead spending 28 days on the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad in September before being released.
Amadi has played in 85 games over the course of his career, which includes stints with the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.
The arrival of Amadi to provide additional depth comes after Talanoa Hufanga has missed the last three games due to an ankle injury, and immediately following Brandon Jones aggravating a hamstring problem in last Sunday’s 28-24 win over Kansas City.
Denver had a practice-squad vacancy after promoting safety Taylor Rapp to the 53-player roster on Saturday, but still needed to make a pair of corresponding moves to fit the two other additions. The Broncos chose to release wide receivers Cam Ross and Eli Pancol. Pancol joined the Broncos’ practice squad last week.
