Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix looked as exhausted as the fans after an epic 28-24 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.
The victory put the Broncos in first place in the AFC West after they outscored their rival 15-0 in the fourth quarter, including an epic goal-line stand at the buzzer.
Postgame, Nix was asked about his emotions, and was honest like usual. While also giving the defense their flowers.
“I’m just tired. I’m just ready to go home and go to sleep. But it was just a really big win and the fourth-down was another crazy play by our defense,” Bo Nix said. “It’s just an incredible stand by them, they just battled and battled on that drive and came out on top.”
Broncos head coach Sean Payton credited Denver fans for making the Chiefs commit a false-start penalty that took fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line to the six-yard line with four seconds left. Denver defensive lineman Malcolm Roach sacked Patrick Mahomes to end the game.
Nix led the Broncos to two fourth quarter touchdowns, including Jonah Coleman’s go-ahead score just after the two-minute warning. Pressed by the media about his somber mood, Nix said he did all his celebrating right after the final gun and with his teammates.
“Yeah, I’m extremely thrilled. Got all my excitement out on the field and in the locker room. We have a very close group, we have a great team, very selfless. We do a great job staying together, being positive and it’s just really exciting to get a win like that against a really good football team,” Bo Nix said.
That win has the 6-2 Broncos atop the AFC West and in second place in the conference. It was sweet revenge after K.C. embarrassed Denver in the season-opener.
“How things went down in Week 1 and how the game unfolded and it how it ended, it’s just incredible. It’s going to be fun to process over the next couple days and then gotta get right back to work cause this league doesn’t stop for anybody, it just keeps right on running,” Nix said.
That grind will take Denver to Carolina next Sunday before a well-earned bye.
Bo Nix has every right to be tired after a thrilling comeback win, as he knows it’s huge — but even bigger tasks await the 2026 Broncos down the road.
