Greg Penner: Broncos goal is to compete for championships, can ‘win Super Bowls’

Denver Broncos owner and CEO Greg Penner held a press conference on Tuesday during the team’s training camp practice.

It was an insightful look from Penner on a variety of topics, including the latest on a potential new stadium and if he’s thinking about Bo Nix’s next contract.

But while there are a lot of big picture questions, fans are very excited about the 2026 season.

The Broncos fell one step short of appearing in the Super Bowl last year and want to go back to the AFC Title Game and beyond.

Zach Bye, host of “The Drive” on 104.3 The Fan, asked Greg Penner if he’s willing to say out loud what would define success for this year’s team.

“I think that’s a hard question because you get to binary answers, but our goal is to compete for championships every year,” Greg Penner said. “And if we put ourselves in that position, I think we’re gonna be successful and we’re gonna win Super Bowls.”

Notice how the last part of the answer is plural.

Penner would love to get one Lombardi Trophy under his belt, but it sounds like multiple titles is the goal in the future.

And with Nix thriving through two seasons, head coach Sean Payton under contract for five more years and a loaded defense, the sky is the limit.

In fact, if Nix doesn’t break his ankle in the divisional round in January, the Broncos likely face the Seahawks for a chance at a championship.

It’s a good answer from Greg Penner. He’s setting the bar high, while not making any wild guarantees. There’s an element of luck and health that plays into all of this, but there’s no reason Denver can’t be in the conversation each year.

Coming off a 14-3 campaign and the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs, anything feels possible.
