Denver Broncos defensive lineman Matt Henningsen left Friday’s training camp practice on a cart.

Reports from Broncos Park powered by CommonSpirit were grim, with Henningsen looking visibly emotional after being injured while working on a side field.

As 9NEWS and 104.3 The Fan insider Mike Klis notes above, Matt Henningsen is coming off an Achilles tear in a joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers last season. That happened almost a year ago to the day, so his reaction makes sense.

If it’s serious, which carts at camp tend to be, Henningsen had worked for months and months to get back on the field and now something else has happened.

A member of the Broncos coaching staff should speak to the media after practice, so we’ll see if there are any concrete updates. Henningsen will likely need a variety of tests done.

The Broncos took Matt Henningsen in the sixth-round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s suited up in 34 career games for Denver, registering 40 tackles, two quarterback hits and one sack.

He hasn’t appeared in a regular season games since 2023, spending the 2024 season on the practice squad and then the Achilles tear sidelining him last year.

Here’s to hoping for some better news than expected when the injury is revealed.
