Broncos defensive lineman done for the season with another torn Achilles

Denver Broncos defensive lineman Matt Henningsen had a scary injury at training camp on Friday.

And unfortunately very bad news has been confirmed by 9NEWS and 104.3 The Fan Broncos insider Mike Klis.

Henningsen is done for the season with another torn Achilles, exactly one year after he last tore it in a joint practice with the 49ers prepping for the 2025 campaign.

Henningsen was carted off at Broncos Park powered by CommonsSpirit on Friday and was in pain and looked visibly upset. He probably knew right away about the Achilles and unfortunately tests have confirmed as much.

The Broncos took Henningsen in the sixth-round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s suited up in 34 career games for Denver, registering 40 tackles, two quarterback hits and one sack.

He hadn’t appeared in a regular season game since 2023, spending the 2024 season on the practice squad and then the Achilles tear sidelining him last year.

Now, he wont’ play in 2026 and has another long and grueling rehab ahead. It’s a reminder that football can be cruel and not fair.

Hopefully, Henningsen’s NFL career remains alive even with another massive setback.
