Five Rockies land on Baseball America’s updated Top 100

The Colorado Rockies rebuild is now offering signs of life, and this week brought the latest.

Baseball America released its post-deadline Top 100 update Wednesday, and Colorado landed five names on the list: Ethan Holliday (No. 63), Roldy Brito (No. 69), Charlie Condon (No. 71), Cristian Arguelles (No. 87) and Tyler Bell (No. 91).

The Rockies haven’t fared that well in a prospect ranking in a long time — BA ranked Colorado’s farm system dead last among all 30 teams entering the season. Going from the bottom of the barrel to five Top 100 names is a solid swing and it’s another sign — with the Rockies’ current year-over-year improvement — that the arrow may finally be pointing up under Paul DePodesta, not even a full year into his tenure.

Bell is the newest name on the list, climbing in after the Rockies took the Kentucky switch-hitting shortstop 10th overall last month. He slashed .343/.510/.608 with a 1.119 OPS and nine home runs in his sophomore season with the Wildcats. Bell is still recovering from a procedure he had after the draft.

Brito might be the most exciting name most folks in Denver don’t know yet. The 19-year-old tore through Single-A — .341/.405/.494 with nine homers and 35 stolen bases across 112 games in parts of two seasons — earning a recent promotion to High-A Spokane and a trip to the Futures Game. His best tool is his speed but the little bit of pop he’s showing is really exciting given experts expect him to hit for average, too. He’s also got a solid glove and arm, which has been utilized mostly at second base and center field in the pros.

Condon continues to mash at Triple-A Albuquerque and is knocking on the door of a big league call-up, which feels like it could come any day now. The possible 2027 lockout could complicate the timing, though — as a minor leaguer Condon could still play through a work stoppage, but a call-up would leave him on his sofa if the league shuts down. The first baseman and right fielder has a .948 OPS in 93 games for the ‘Topes. He also played in the Futures Game.

Arguelles, a 19-year-old international signee, who had been tearing it up in the complex leagues, is a long way away — just getting up to Single-A in recent days. But his tools are loud and the Rockies have been slow playing a guy they seem to prize.

And then there’s Holliday, who remains the system’s top-ranked prospect at No. 63 despite missing the rest of the season with a stress fracture in his left foot. BA is still buying the talent — the 19-year-old was slashing .262/.395/.557 with nine homers in 33 games at Single-A Fresno before going down. But it’s worth noting BA is lower on Holliday than just about every other major outlet. Other sites like MLB Pipeline have listed him among the top 25 prospects in the game.

The Rockies farm system is starting to trend in the right direction, even if the top end still lacks pitching. The Rockies shipped out Brenton Doyle, Antonio Senzatela and Victor Vodnik at the deadline, adding more young talent on top of what was already there. Colorado still isn’t going to compete in 2027 — and probably not 2028. But the prospect cupboard is starting to build.
