Report: Broncos have another interview with potential Round 2 ILB

The Denver Broncos are narrowing their focus in the NFL Draft.

And the festivities begin later this week.

The Broncos don’t have a Round 1 pick because of the blockbuster Jaylen Waddle trade, which is obviously a deal most of the fanbase is excited about. Waddle should instantly help make the Denver offense even more explosive in 2026.

But that does add pressure to nail their Round 2 selection, which is currently slated to be No. 62 overall.

One distinct possibility remains inside linebacker Josiah Trotter out of Missouri. ESPN mocked him to the Broncos last month.

According to Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette, the organization followed up with Trotter via Zoom ahead of the draft.

The Broncos paid Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad this offseason, so they’ll be the starters, but depth is a question mark with the release of Dre Greenlaw. Trotter could definitely help address that.

During the 2025 season with the Tigers he had 84 tackles (13 for loss) and two sacks in 12 games. He spent the previous season at West Virginia where Trotter had 92 tackles and an interception.

Offensive skill position players will get the headlines, but Trotter would not be a bad selection for the Broncos. We’ll see if re-loading the defense is indeed the direction that head coach Sean Payton and GM George Paton decide to go.

The NFL Draft begins with the first-round on Thursday night, followed by the next two rounds on Friday. If Denver stays at No. 62, keep an eye on Trotter.

He could very well be one of the six players that Paton mentioned the Broncos have focused in on.
