Former Broncos No. 5 overall pick lands with the Buffalo Bills

The Denver Broncos once took Bradley Chubb over Josh Allen in the NFL Draft.

Now, the two will be teammates.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Chubb has landed with the Buffalo Bills on a three-year contract that can be worth more than $50 million.

Chubb is an interesting piece in Broncos history, a guy that flashed but never lived up to the potential of being a No. 5 overall pick.

With Allen still on the board, former Denver GM John Elway took Chubb over Allen in the 2018 NFL Draft. He would play 4.5 seasons with the Broncos, registering 26 sacks and six forced fumbles. Injuries limited Chubb to only four games in 2019 and just seven in 2021.

Then, in November of 2022, new GM George Paton traded Chubb to the Miami Dolphins for a package that included a 2023 first-round pick. That selection was eventually used to trade for head coach Sean Payton from the New Orleans Saints.

Obviously, Payton has experienced a lot of success in Denver, highlighted by going 14-3 in 2025 and reaching the AFC Championship Game.

Chubb would register 22 sacks in 41 career games with the Dolphins, missing 2024 due to a torn ACL but bouncing back last season. He suited up in all 17 of Miami’s games and recorded 8.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Now Chubb will join the Bills, a team the Broncos have faced in the playoffs each of the last two years. And he’ll be teammates with Allen, a QB many in Denver wish was entering his ninth season with the Broncos.
