Broncos right back in AFC West race, but Chiefs suddenly look just fine

The Denver Broncos blasted the Cincinnati Bengals 28-3 on Monday Night Football.

It was a good “get right” game for the Broncos, as QB Bo Nix had his best outing of the year, the running game finally clicked and the defense made life impossible for the Bengals offense.

And capping Week 4 of the NFL slate with a victory was big, as Denver is right back in the AFC West race with a 2-2 record.

Yes, it’s early, but the New York Giants did the Broncos a tremendous favor on Sunday. In his first professional start, QB Jaxson Dart helped lead the G-Men to a 21-18 triumph over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Jim Harbaugh, Justin Herbert and company are now 3-1, just a game above Denver in the division. Sure, the Broncos Week 3 loss in L.A. still stings, especially given how it happened, but you can only close the gap one game at a time.

It’s a long ways off, but remember that Denver and Los Angeles play in Week 18 at Empower Field at Mile High. Maybe, just maybe, an AFC West title will be on the line that day.

But of course, there’s always a catch, and that comes in the form of the Kansas City Chiefs. Superstar QB Patrick Mahomes threw four touchdowns as they smashed the Baltimore Ravens 37-20 in a contest that wasn’t even that close. KC is now 2-2 on the year, the same as the Broncos.

The Raiders lost in hilarious fashion to the Bears, dropping to 1-3, and it looks like it could be a long season in Las Vegas.

This isn’t baseball, basketball or hockey, it’s never too soon to start watching the standings. And considering Denver has to go on the road to face the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles on Sunday, they desperately need to handle business against Cincinnati — which they did.

The Chargers will host the Commanders this coming weekend, while the Chiefs will travel to face the Jaguars on Monday night. Go Washington and go Jacksonville — that’s a given.
