We’re not going to waste too much time on this since the Colorado Avalanche are playing in the Western Conference Finals tonight and the St. Louis Blues are playing golf.

But Blues goalie Jordan Binnington met with the media on Tuesday and admitted he threw a water bottle at Avs center Nazem Kadri after their Game 3 collision. The incident, which we dubbed water-bottle-gate, occurred during a postgame interview while Kadri was talking with TNT.

What followed afterward were appalling racist death threats aimed at Kadri because Binnington missed the rest of the series. Even though Binnington said on Tuesday he doesn’t think Kadri was trying to hurt him, he did admit to throwing the water bottle.

His full explanation is something you have to see for yourself:

So, because Binnington couldn’t find a proper place to discard his trash, he thought Kadri was the next best target? If it wasn’t Kadri’s fault, why take such a childish stance on the whole thing? Because the “revenge” was just too sweet to pass up on?

Whatever. This is the last I’ll be writing about this. Kadri and the Avs are eight wins away from the franchise’s first Stanley Cup since 2001. Binnington is off for summer break.
