Nazem Kadri’s wife shares screenshots of sickening racist threats

May 24, 2022, 9:21 AM

Avalanche center Nazem Kadri has been receiving threats from Blues fans since his collision on Saturday night with St. Louis goalie Jordan Binnington in Game 3 of their Round 2 series in the NHL playoffs.

The unfortunate incident, which was simply unlucky, knocked Binnington out for the rest of the series.

Kadri was the subject of cheap shots from Blues players during Game 4, but answered on the ice, tallying a memorable hat trick in a 6-3 Colorado win to help the Avs earn a 3-1 series lead.

Unfortunately, that made several idiots out there even more upset, and Kadri’s wife Ashley shared some of the messages the family has been getting on Instagram.

We’re not going to publish them here, but Mike Stephens of Sports Illustrated posted the screenshots on Twitter if you want to see them. A warning that the language is upsetting, threatening and racist.

Kadri has handled this situation the best he can and it’s clear his teammates have his back, but it will be worth monitoring whether law enforcement can bring charges against these people. It’s obvious some of them are using their real names from real accounts and they shouldn’t be hard to track down.

On the hockey side of things, The Avs and Blues will play Game 5 on Wednesday night at Ball Arena, with Colorado looking to advance out of the second-round for the first time since 2002.
