Josh Harris visits Denver, is among frontrunners to buy Broncos

May 6, 2022, 3:05 PM | Updated: 3:08 pm

One of the two frontrunners bidding to buy the Denver Broncos, Josh Harris wrapped up a two-day visit to Denver on Friday, a report from 9News’ Mike Klis stated.

Harris, named a frontrunner by longtime Denver media member Woody Paige on Thursday, is said to have had dinner at a downtown restaurant with Broncos CEO Joe Ellis on Thursday and toured Empower Field at Mile High on Friday. Harris then headed back to Philadelphia for a 76ers playoff game, the NBA team he also owns.

Harris has a net worth of about $7.5 billion and also owns the NHL’s New Jersey Devils.

Paige noted that Harris is not the favorite to submit the winning bid for the Broncos because he’s going up against Walmart’s heir Rob Walton, who has a net worth of about $70 billion.

A Broncos source told DenverFan on Thursday that the process is not down to two finalists despite Paige’s reporting. The team is hosting multiple candidates, as the current step is still in the early stages.

Harris has a strong group of investors, including Magic Johnson.

The team will be sold by the Pat Bowlen Trust to the highest bidder.
