"It'll be lit," Riley Moss says as he looks forward to getting back to normal when the Broncos face Arizona.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Riley Moss’ ribs have been a spot of bother since he recovered a fumble on the first series of the Broncos’ second preseason game this year against the Green Bay Packers and promptly went into the blue medical tent along the Broncos sideline.

And just when it seemed he was fully in the clear, he suffered an aggravation of the injury that knocked him out for the second half of the Oct. 4 game against the San Francisco 49ers and all of the following Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Unfortunately it was the second time I did it,” Moss said, “but we’re good now.”

Still, anytime you’re dealing with a rib-cartilage issue, there’s a high degree of discomfort while coping with the pain.

“The biggest thing is a lot of twisting, a lot of movements like that kind of irritate it and that’s that’s kind of my job, and it’s tough,” Moss said.

The aggravation of the rib issue happened when he brought down 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans on Oct. 4.

“It was Mike Evans,” Moss said. “I tackled the out route and I took his cleat kind of under my rib cage and I went one more play and it was hurting.

“I was gonna try and fight it out but you know I had to get some attention on it.”

BRONCOS BROUGHT MOSS BACK DELIBERATELY

Moss wouldn’t see the practice field again for nine days, seeing limited participation in the Oct. 13 walk-through session two days before the Broncos faced the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football.

That tested Moss’s patience.

“When you’re rehabbing, you kind of just have to let it heal. And then you can get into your ramp-up and get rolling,” he said. “The good thing is, I wasn’t out too long to lose too much conditioning and stuff, but yeah, we approached it good.

When game time came, Moss was ready — but not for a full-tilt return. He took a few bites, playing 20 of a possible 85 snaps against Seattle.

“I was only in for certain personnel and stuff just to kind of get ramped back up,” he said. “t was tough because it was a short week, so, we didn’t really practice.”

But he made it through, and now Moss says he’s ready for the full meal when the Broncos travel to Arizona this weekend.

“Yeah, it’ll be lit,” he said. “I’m excited.”
