The Broncos finished off their 2022 NFL Draft with a pick in the sixth and seventh rounds. In the sixth, the Broncos went for Matt Henningsen at 206th overall. In the seventh, the Broncos selected cornerback Faion Hicks at No. 232. Both Henningsen and Hicks are from the University of Wisconsin. The Broncos drafted two Oklahoma teammates for the defensive side of the ball as well in the draft.

Henningsen, a defensive lineman, recorded eight sacks and 13 tackles for a loss in Madison. Henningsen joins Broncos’ third-round pick Greg Dulcich as another former walk-on that will be making their way to Dove Valley. At 6-foot-3, 289 pounds, Henningsen, is the third defensive front guy picked by the club, joining second-round selection Nik Bonitto and fourth-rounder Eyioma Uwazurike.

“I grew up watching Russell Wilson lead us to a Rose Bowl (at Wisconsin),” Henningsen said. “I can’t wait to get to Denver. I am super excited to go Denver.”

Henningsen old and new teammate, Hicks, is one of three defensive backs that the Broncos selected. The Miami native ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at his pro day. He had just one pick in college.
