The Denver Broncos had back-to-back picks in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. At No. 115, they selected cornerback Damarri Mathis from the University of Pittsburgh, and with the 116th pick, the club added defensive end Eyioma Uwazurike from Iowa State.
Mathis, a 5-foot-11, 196-pound defensive back, ran a 4.39 40-yard dash and grabbed two interceptions in college last fall. The honorable mention All-ACC player is from Lakeland, Florida.
Damarri Mathis says he had a “really good Zoom” call with the Broncos leading up to the draft.

Mathis is fast and aggressive, will not back down from a challenge. great footwork and will knock passes away regularly. #Broncos #NFLDraft @1043TheFan https://t.co/qHuta7LwOt

Uwazurike, a 6-foot-6, 316 pounder, recorded nine sacks last fall and 12 tackles for a loss. Over his career as a Cyclone Uwazurike had 34.5 tackles for a loss, ranking third in school history.
“I have the right amount of strength, speed and quickness,” Uwazurike said. “I’m not just a one-trick pony.”
“I didn’t know I was on the Broncos’ list,” Uwazurike said. “It was shocking to see. When I got that call from Denver, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”
Toughness is the name of the game with Uwazurikie. A hustle player at nearly 320 pounds with length (84 3/4). Active hands and can play multiple positions up front. #Broncos #NFLDraft @1043TheFan https://t.co/lGLxWMbJfe
