The Denver Broncos have three picks in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. At No. 152, they selected safety Delarrin Turner-Yell from Oklahoma. With the 162nd pick the Broncos chose wide receiver Montrell Washington from Samford. The Broncos had their final fifth at 179, but traded up eight spots to 171 using a seventh-rounder. With 171, the Broncos drafted Washington offensive lineman Luke Wattenberg.
Turner-Yell a 5-foot-11, 196-pound defensive back, recorded four picks in 19 games played as an upperclassman.
Turner-Yell joins a room filled with Justin Simmons, Kareem Jackson, Caden Sterns, Jamar Johnson, P.J. Locke and J.R. Reed.
George Paton loves 5th round safeties! #Broncos are getting a versatile player (built more like a CB), injury history reads like Infinite Jest (go read it @dantjacobslaw) known as a "tone setter" #NFLDraft @1043TheFan https://t.co/n2Z4az7PaO

Turner-Yell is the second Oklahoma defensive player the Broncos have taken during the 2022 NFL Draft, adding an edge rusher with the club’s second-rounder.

Washington, likely to be a returner as well, was named to the All-SoCon team as a return specialist in 2021. He took back several kicks/punts for touchdowns. Washington could be speedy weapon for Russell Wilson, who already got Greg Dulcich added to his arsenal. Washington led the FCS in all-purpose yards with 1,938 last fall. He made contributions in every facet, nabbing nine receiving touchdowns, six rushing touchdowns and three return touchdowns in 2021.
buried on my WR rankings. needs to make his mark as a return man to make the team. #Broncos with a couple of picks in Rd5 I'm not over the moon about. #weshallsee @1043TheFan https://t.co/ezxY92zirr

Samford's Montrell Washington runs it back 98 yards!

Wattenberg, 6-foot-4, 299 pounds, ran a 5.2 40-yard dash and played center and guard in college.
The Broncos had two picks earlier on day three, going for defense then.
