Broncos agree to terms with a tight end after trading Noah Fant last week

Mar 15, 2022, 7:24 PM | Updated: 7:33 pm

The Denver Broncos continue to build their 2022 roster, even before free agency officially opens.

According to 9NEWS Broncos insider Mike Klis, Denver has agreed to a one-year deal with tight Eric Tomlinson from the Baltimore Ravens.

The Broncos certainly have a need at the position after trading Noah Fant to the Seattle Seahawks last week in the Russell Wilson blockbuster, but Tomlinson won’t replace Fant as a pass catcher, at least not in terms of production. He should, however, be a very good blocker.

Tomlinson has 18 career catches in stints with the Jets, Patriots, Giants, Raiders and Ravens and he caught just one pass in Baltimore last season. Denver will likely rely on Albert Okwuegbunam as its primary pass catching tight end in 2022, unless another free agent is signed or the team drafts a tight end in the early rounds next month.

Tomlinson is the fifth new player GM George Paton has added in the last week, joining Wilson, D.J. Jones, Randy Gregory and Ben Braden.
