Bo Nix admits Broncos are ‘struggling to find explosive plays’ after escaping Seahawks

"I don't know where the disconnect is right now to be honest with you," Bo Nix said after throwing for only 107 yards in a 17-14 Broncos OT win

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix was in a bit of a somber mood after his team beat the Seattle Seahawks 17-14 in OT on Thursday evening.

Sure, Nix is happy the Broncos are 4-2 on the season, but the offense’s struggles are the elephant in the room.

Nix threw for only 107 yards in the win, completing 17-27 passes. He had no touchdowns, although Denver scored two rushing TDs in the first half.

But the offense went cold in the second, punting six times and only registering two first-downs. It felt like moving the ball even a yard was a grind, let alone down the field.

“I don’t understand why we can’t really push the ball vertically right now, but defenses are just sitting back there, hanging out. So, we’re just going to keep running the football, hopefully find ways to get more out of it,” Bo Nix said postgame.

Running the ball is nice, but Broncos Country wants to see those Nix deep throws he tossed during his first two NFL seasons. It hasn’t happened thus far in year three.

“Yeah, we’re definitely capable, we’ve shown it. I don’t know where the disconnect is right now to be honest with you,” Nix said.

He mentioned he has to take the check-down if the receivers aren’t open down the field. Still, the fanbase has seen enough shorts throws or footballs into the ground to last a lifetime over the last six weeks.

“I just think we’re really, for some reason, struggling to find those explosive plays. And that’s what makes an offense really spectacular is finding explosive plays and right now we don’t have those,” Bo Nix said.

Again, the best news is the Broncos survived this gauntlet to move to 4-2, even if it their record could easily be flipped. Overall, it’s a great spot to be in.

But this team isn’t winning the Super Bowl unless Bo Nix and the offense pick it up. They’ve got a great chance to get back on track against the Arizona Cardinals in 10 days.
