The Denver Broncos continue to oust people from their organization, waiving former third-round pick Michael Ojemudia on Tuesday, according to 9News Broncos Insider and 104.3 The Fan contributor Mike Klis.
While Broncos general manager George Paton and the team’s CEO were busy having a press conference for the coach they just fired, Nathaniel Hackett, they kept getting rid of people. Paton has now seen three 2020 draft picks leave in recent weeks, fellow third-rounder McTelvin Agim and sixth-rounder Netane Muti were each on the practice squad.
Ojemudia has only played in three games this season and five total over the last two. The former Iowa Hawkeye started 11 games his rookie season but injures hampered his career. Ojemudia struggled to get on the field after Denver drafted Pat Surtain II in 2021.
Ojemudia recorded 73 tackles (10 solo), eight passes defended and four forced fumbles while in Denver. He was the first rookie in NFL history to record multiple games with two or more forced fumbles and was just the third NFL rookie in the last 20 years to force at least four fumbles in a season.
First-rounder Jerry Jeudy, second-rounder KJ Hamler and fellow third-rounder Lloyd Cushenberry III are still with the Broncos. Technically fourth-round tight end Albert Okwuegbunam is still on the team but has barely been active this season. While fifth-rounder Justin Strnad is also still on the active roster and seventh-rounder Tyrie Cleveland is on the practice squad.
