Melvin Gordon “likes” a bunch of tweets suggesting he leave the Broncos

Oct 18, 2022, 10:57 AM

The Melvin Gordon saga with the Broncos feels like it might be close to coming to an end.

Gordon carried the ball just three times for eight yards in a 19-16 overtime loss the Chargers on Monday night, and didn’t look happy. The ESPN cameras found him on the sideline multiple times, pouting and without a helmet. New running back Latavius Murray carried the load for Denver, rushing 15 times for 66 yards.

After the game, Gordon did one interview in which he explained he had no idea what was going on. Gordon claims he wasn’t told by any of the coaches that he would not be utilized much at all.

It’s understandable how that could be frustrating for Gordon. Having something happen in your professional life without an explanation is unfair. It’s bad leadership, and yet another mark against Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett.

However, Gordon didn’t help matters by what he did on Twitter late last night. The fumble prone running back “liked” several tweets that either suggest he leave the Broncos or questioned why he was benched. As a warning, one of them features an offensive term.

Sigh.

If Gordon wants to feel this way privately, that’s his right. But everyone knows “likes” are public and very easy for people to see. Gordon also wasn’t tagged in those tweets, so it’s clear he was searching his name on Twitter to find them after the game.

Maybe this will be a situation like Robbie Anderson’s in Carolina, where the disgruntled player was immediately traded. Based on Gordon’s actions, it seems like he’d be fine with that. And you can bet most of Broncos Country would be happy to move on as well.
