Why not Russ?
The new Denver Broncos quarterback has a chance to join an exclusive club this season if he can defeat the Chargers and Seahawks. Those are the only two NFL teams he hasn’t knocked off in his career thus far.
The group of QBs who have beaten all 32 NFL teams is very small. It includes four of the greatest of all-time in Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning. Of course, beating your old team is the hardest, but those four were all able to do it after switching squads later in their careers.
Wilson obviously has never played a game against the Seahawks, and therefore has never had a chance to beat them, but will get his shot in Week 1 on Monday Night Football in Seattle. The fact he’s never defeated the Chargers is a bit surprising given he’s been in the NFL for 10 years, but he only faced them twice while with the Seahawks. Those games ended in a 30-21 defeat in 2014 and a 25-17 loss in 2018.
The oddsmakers have the Broncos as 3.5 point favorites in their opener against Seattle, so Wilson has a decent shot to earn a win that night. He’ll also get the Chargers twice, in Week 6 and Week 18, so you’d think at least a split is in the cards.
A second Super Bowl ring probably means far more to Wilson than this achievement would, but anytime you can join Brady, Brees, Favre and Manning, that’s pretty elite company.
