Day 2 goes to plan, Broncos believe they can get starter on Day 3 of Draft

Friday was a day of twos for the Broncos. They added two players in the 2022 NFL Draft and traded down twice to acquire assets for later.
The first of the two picks was second-rounder Nik Bonitto from Oklahoma. The pass rusher filled a need as did the Broncos’ second pick, and third-rounder Greg Dulcich from UCLA.
“We were tested, and we had a lot of conversations,” General Manager George Paton said. “It just worked out; we didn’t have to trade up, we were really close, we were on the clock, and we had a pretty good deal. But there were three or four players we liked, and so we just waited out. We really did think about trading up for Nik as well as Greg.”
As cliche as it might be the Broncos seemed to have gotten their guys on Day 2. Helped by the two trades they didn’t make, to move up to pick Bonitto and to move back in from Day 3 to Day 2. Instead, the Broncos keep eight picks in the chest for Saturday and added a third-rounder for next year.
“It went to plan. We got two really good players and got some picks,” Paton said. “We thought Nik was one of the better pass rushers coming out, just the burst, the speed. He needs to get a little stronger, but we didn’t anticipate him being there, and we’re really fortunate he’ll add to our group.”
