NFL Top 100 spot for Bolles a well-earned sign of respect

Garett Bolles insists he still has a way to go. The Denver Broncos left tackle said as much earlier in training camp, when he was asked to react to Von Miller calling him the best left tackle in the NFL.
“Hey man, I take the compliment. I’ve got a long way to go,” Bolles said. “I love Von dearly, we work hard together, but I feel like I’m on the right track.”
Bolles is used to the doubters. In fact, if someone said he would make his first NFL Top 100 list this time a year ago, they’d be laughed out of Broncos Country.
“Everyone’s doubted me my whole career, so I’m going to let the doubter’s doubt,” Bolles said last month. “I’m just going to do my job, and I’m just going to put in on paper and let everyone else decide who the best is.”
Well, Bolles came in at No. 82 on this year’s NFL Top 100 list, just another sign of respect for the former first-round pick.
Another was the four-year extension that Bolles received in November after his breakout season.
But perhaps the biggest compliment came from Miller at the beginning of training camp.
“Garret Bolles, he’s blocking the best pass rushers in the league. He is the best left tackle in the league. If he’s not the best, he’s Top 3 and he’s not No. 3,” Miller said. “I’m so proud of him. Y’all know about my relationship with Garett Bolles and the type of jump that he’s made. He’s definitely developing into a big-time left tackle.”
Still, Bolles knows he’s going to have to put it together again in 2021, or people will see last season as just an anomaly.
“I had a great season last year, but that’s last year. I’ve got to do it again this year,” Bolles said last month.
