Broncos are a “legitimate” landing spot for Aaron Rodgers

NFL Network’s James Palmer knows the Broncos quarterback situation well, and said on Monday that people inside the organization think Aaron Rodgers to Denver is a “real possibility.”
Aaron Rodgers to the #Broncos. It’s a fit that makes sense to a lot of people. Including ones inside the organization. My report on @nflnetwork pic.twitter.com/4danQDARRM

Of course, Palmer pointed out that a deal of this size would take a lot to get done. However, the Broncos still continue to be a legitimate landing spot for the quarterback.
“When the Broncos heard the news about Aaron Rodgers and his situation with the Green Bay Packers they started thinking about what a package would be if they were going to put something together,” Palmer said.
Compared to other teams the Broncos are in a situation that would allow them to pursue Rodgers heavily, starting with their cap space.
The Broncos currently have the second-most cap space available in the league at $25,056,496, behind only the Jacksonville Jaguars.
If the Packers and Rodgers come to an understanding following June 1 that reconciling the relationship will not happen, Rodgers’ $38 million dead cap money can be spread out over two years ($21 million and $17 million).
“Very few teams have the cap ability to land Aaron Rodgers, but the Broncos do,” Palmer said.
The Broncos also have an advantage with their current quarterback room that also allows them to go after Rodgers more aggressively.
The Broncos currently have Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater battling for the starting quarterback spot and both don’t have a lot of money tied to the organization.
“A lot of teams would have to unload an expensive quarterback to make room for Rodgers,”Palmer said. “The Broncos don’t have that. Teddy Bridgewater … they only have him for about $3-$4 million dollars and Drew Lock is below that.
The Broncos are a suitable spot for Rodgers, but the team will have to be aggressive and ready to get a deal done.
