According to NFL Networks’ Ian Rapoport, teams have been interested in Minshew since the quarterback is expected to be replaced by the presumed No.1 overall pick in Trevor Lawrence.
Many quarterbacks are already off the table. Cam Newton, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andy Dalton, Trod Taylor and Jacoby Brissett agreed to deals recently.
General manager George Paton was adamant in a press conference that another quarterback would be brought in before the season starts.
“We’re always going to try and bring in competition to every position, the quarterback as well,” Paton said.
So will the Broncos aim for an outright quarterback competition or perhaps find a solid backup to Drew Lock?
Minshew could be a player who starts for a team while it figures out a longer-term strategy.
In nine games last season Minshew finished the year with 2,259 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions for a 95.9 passer rating.
