The quarterback carousel is turning, but will the Broncos be looking for an upgrade from Drew Lock?

In this week’s FAN Mailbag, DMac answers questions about what the offseason could look like for the Denver Broncos, how realistic a Deshaun Watson trade is and what Vic Fangio must do to keep his job.

Here are the burning questions from our mailbag.

With Phillip Lindsay’s return somewhat in question, if he is available in the second-round, would you take Clemson running back Travis Etienne? I know running backs can be found later, but his ability as both a runner/rec./returner could be a nice addition to the other young playmakers on offense.

– Kolby T.

DMac: Etienne is likely to be the first running back taken and likely at the back end of the first round. That being said. IF the Broncos HAVE a second round pick (may not if they deal for Deshaun Watson) I would absolutely jump on Etienne in the second round. The Lindsey/Gordon situation is not good and needs to change.

Do you think the NFL should allow some semblance of OTA’s and how important will that be for the Broncos’ offense and Pat Shurmur heading into training camp?

– Jamie & Connie

DMac: OTA’s are virtually meaningless. What matters is development between quarterbacks and receivers. I would love to reimagine the entire set up. The vast majority of players are just as well off working out on their own and zoom meetings. But the NFL doesn’t think progressively. They turn like the titanic and often hit icebergs.

What does this offense look like if the Broncos added DeShaun Watson?

– Eric C.

DMac: 30 points a game and likely playoff team. The history of the NFL is littered with 5-11 teams becoming 11-5 teams. Watson is THAT guy and the Broncos should aggressively pursue him.

If everyone expects head coach Vic Fangio and staff to be fired at the end of the 2021 season, wouldn’t it make sense for general manager George Paton to make a coaching change before free agency and the draft? If Broncos are in rebuild, why wait?

– Patrick W.

DMac: They have been in “rebuild year” for years. The decision to keep Fangio and Shurmur has been made. The pending ownership shift in 2022 is such that making radical coaching changes at this point would be silly. I hate to use this cliche, but it is what it is and Fangio will have zero wiggle room. He HAS to win at least eight and maybe even nine. Let’s see.

Who actually has the bigger head? Mike or Mark?

– J. Clayton

DMac: Physically – Mike.  Egotistically – Mark. Just ask him.
