Are things finally looking up for the Rockies after Sunday’s win?

Coming into the 2019 season with perhaps the highest expectations ever placed upon the club, the Colorado Rockies certainly have had an opening month to forget.

After winning its first two games of the season, the Rockies lost 12 of the team’s next 13 games, including being held winless in their first homestand of the season at Coors Field.

But just one-tenth of the way through the season, ESPN’s Pedro Gomez had an encouraging guarantee on Friday when he joined “The Drive.”

“Here’s what I guarantee. It will get better,” Gomez said.

Gomez said the Rockies early woes seem even more magnified because, one, they happened right off the bat early in the season and, two, the expectation surrounding the club were high.

But the “beautify of 162,” Gomez said, is that at “some point, things will turn.”

“I guarantee, at some point, we’re going to be talking about how well the Rockies are playing,” Gomez said.

And on Sunday, Colorado snapped an eight-game losing streak on the shoulders of a one-hit shutout from German Marquez and a three-run home run from Nolan Arenado, his first of the season.

If things have begun to turn around remains to be seen, however, as the Rockies head to San Diego for a two-game set with the Padres starting Monday.
