Stokley: Broncos QB Flacco to be judge by play in ‘big situations’

On sheer resume alone, the Denver Broncos players are more than likely excited about the prospects of Joe Flacco under center next season, said Brandon Stokley on Monday, certainly more than they may have been with Case Keenum.
Flacco’s won a Super Bowl, been a Super Bowl MVP, and been a starter in the league for more than a decade.
“For young guys, you’re excited about that and the opportunity to play with a guy like that,” said the “Stokley and Zach” co-host. “So, I look at that and, throughout the offseason, I think guys will be excited about Flacco …”
But, in the end, the true test for Flacco to stick around Denver past next season is if he can make plays in “big situations,” Stokley said.
“Are we going to look at his stats at the end of the year and he’s going to throw for more than 5,000 yards? No. Forty touchdowns-plus? No. So, I don’t think stats-wise it’s going to look great … not in this style of offense that they’re running,” Stokley said.
“You want to see a guy go out there, take care of the football, and make plays when the plays are there to be made.”
