Ex-teammates of Flacco among Schlereth’s Broncos free agent targets

The new league year for the NFL commences in two weeks on March 13, which will signify the start of free agency for the Denver Broncos and 31 other teams.
But while the Broncos have their work cut out in terms of evaluating which of the team’s free agents they wish to retain, or not retain, “Schlereth and Evans” co-host Mark Schlereth gave his take Tuesday on who the team should target in free agency.

Linebacker C.J. Mosley
Likely a highly-sought free agent, should he make it to the market, the Baltimore Ravens linebacker “does it all,” Schlereth said.
“He probably doesn’t get the credit he deserves, but he diagnoses plays exceptionally well. He’ll take on guards. He’s big enough to take on offensive linemen. He’s a good blitzer. The guy’s a three-down linebacker and a phenomenal player,” Schlereth said.
Linebacker Kwon Alexander
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker missed the back half of the 2018 season with a torn ACL.
But besides that, and being a “little bit smaller, Schlereth called Alexander a “football playing Jesse.”
“He’s a good, good player,” Schlereth said.
Defensive end Frank Clark
More of a 4-3 defensive end in his opinion, Schlereth said Clark will “probably go somewhere else” than Denver but that he really liked him.
“… The guy’s unbelievably productive. His first-step quickness is just on point. He could be a pass-rushing defensive end in a four-down alignment and nickel situations,” Schlereth said.

Wide receiver John Brown
A familiar face for newly-acquired Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco, Brown averaged 17.0 yards per reception in his only season with the Ravens in 2018.
Brown is a guy who can “flat run,” Schlereth said, and take the top off of coverages.
“He’s a good professional at the wide receiver position,” Schlereth said.
Cornerback Bryce Callahan
The Broncos already have one of the best, if not the best, slot corners in all of football in Chris Harris Jr., but Schlereth called Callahan a “great one as well.”
“Every time I called the Chicago game over the past two years, the guy just is out there making plays,” Schlereth said.
The only thing to figure out, Schlereth said, would be if Callahan or Harris play outside.
Honorable mentions
Safeties Lamarcus Joyner (Los Angeles Rams) and Landon Collins (New York Giants) also made Schlereth’s list.
Joyner is a “little bit older,” Schlereth said, but also is a “player that has done great things.”
Collins, on the other hand, is just 25 years old but has had injury issues, Schlereth said.
“The guy is a great football player, depending on how he is injury-wise,” Schlereth said.
