Schlereth: Broncos have shot at redemption against Rams on Sunday

Sunday’s 34-16 blowout loss at the hands of the New York Jets is the most embarrassing defeat in the tenure of Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph, Mark Schlereth said on Monday.
The “Schlereth and Evans” co-host called it the “coup de grace,” the “cherry on top of embarrassing butt whippings.”
“… That was about as soft as a performance as we’ve ever seen around here,” Schlereth said. “I mean soft. Mentally soft. Physically soft.”
But, there’s good news, Schlereth said. Denver can redeem itself from the loss by going out and beating an undefeated Los Angeles Rams team on Sunday, a team many have penciled in as a Super Bowl favorite.
“If you can beat this undefeated team, you can wash that taste out of your mouth and you can put yourself back on a track to success at 3-3,” Schlereth said.
However, Schlereth said he’s more “apprehensive” than excited about the Broncos chances to “right this ship this week against an undefeated team who many think is the best team in football.”
“I’m more concern than I’m excited,” Schlereth said. “And this is a crossroads game.”
Should the Broncos “lay an egg,” however, Schlereth said we’ll likely see “a bunch of people get fired.”
“Rightfully so. It’s the way it should be,” Schlereth said. “This is not a try-hard league. This is a do-good league, both from a player’s standpoint and from a coaching standpoint.”
