Do the Denver Broncos need to find their own Patrick Mahomes?

On Monday night, in prime time, the Denver Broncos got a firsthand glimpse at what playing the Kansas City Chiefs will likely look like for the next decade and a half.
After being somewhat stifled for three quarters, the high-flying Chiefs offense rattled off 14 unanswered points to steal a win away from the Broncos on the road, much in part to the quarterbacking of second-year sensation Patrick Mahomes.
On the night, Mahomes had the worst game of his season thus far and still managed 304 yards on 28-of-45 passing for a touchdown and a passer rating of 89.5.
And through four games, Mahomes leads the league in touchdown passes (14), interception percentage (0.0 percent), is second in passer rating (126.5), and 11th in passing yards (1,200).
“The Drive” co-host Alfred Williams said on Tuesday that after what he saw with Mahomes, it might be time for the Broncos to seek out a “Mahomes” of their own.
“That guy is going to be playing in Kansas City for at least 12 to 17 years. For 12 to 17 years we’re going to get that guy,” Williams said. “We need to get a guy like that.”
Earlier Tuesday, “Pritchard and Cecil” co-host Mike Pritchard said it would be foolish for NFL general managers or front office executives not to exhaust all options for a player like Mahomes if they should find him in the draft.
“(The Chiefs) gave up two first-rounders and a third-rounder, despite going to the playoffs, to move up to No. 10 to get Patrick Mahomes because he’s that different,” Pritchard said. “He’s that big of a difference maker.”
