1. Protection issues are still a concern for the Denver Broncos
The New York Giants shut down the Broncos rushing attack on Sunday, forcing Trevor Siemian throw the ball 50 times and sacking the quarterback four times.
“After the first three series, we got him kind of shook because he wasn’t expecting what we were doing,” Giants safety Landon Collins said after the game. “We watched a lot of film. He was just holding it too long and not letting it go.”
Up front, right tackle Watson went down with injury and left guard Max Garcia was beaten repeatedly.
The lack of consistency and depth is plaguing Denver’s offense right now.
2. Hard to stay balanced on offense when the QB plays unbalanced.
Siemian threw two interceptions, one of which Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins raced down the Broncos sideline for a defensive touchdown.
“When you have three turnovers, it’s hard to say you played well,” Denver head coach Vance Joseph said after the game. “Turnovers are always tied to the quarterback, and that’s the key to success on offense — not turning the ball over.
“I would say with three turnovers, probably not good.”
3. Expectations got out of whack for the 2017 Broncos.
Denver’s terrible loss at home leaves quite a few questions that definitely need to get answered.
The Denver defense did not control the Giants’ running game, and the Broncos offense is struggling.
“We just have to come up with a great game plan, which we usually do. We’ve got great leadership and great coaches,” Broncos linebacker Von Miller said after the game.
“We’ve got to come in with the same enthusiasm, have great practices and just go out there and play and get a win.”
