Mike Pritchard’s Big 3 Broncos breakdown – season opener vs. Chargers

1. Denver defense dominates Chargers on ground

The Denver Broncos defense came up big in shutting down the Los Angeles Chargers running game.  Allowed only 64 rushing yards

On the night, the unit allowed only 64 rushing yards.

After the game, linebacker Von Miller said:

“We did a pretty good job in the run, and we did a pretty good job in the pass. Total, as a whole team, we had a great game today.”

2. Communication breakdown for the ‘No Fly Zone’

The Broncos “No Fly Zone” had some communication issues in the win over the Chargers. That group needs to get on the same page for the full 60 minutes.

“We can definitely work a lot on communication,” cornerback Chris Harris Jr said after the game. “My touchdown, that should never happen. The big touchdown to (Chargers wide receiver Travis) Benjamin should never happen. We’ve just got younger guys back there, and they’ll learn as the time goes. Hopefully, we’ll be able to fix it next week.”

3. Broncos offense in control … mostly

Denver’s offense was able to dictate the game and play explosive football … but only for 3 1/2 quarters. The Broncos will need to learn how to finish a game.

“We did some good things. Obviously red zone we want to clean up and then finishing the game,” quarterback Trevor Siemian said after the game. “We can do a better job there, but like I said, it feels good to win and beat a divisional opponent at home and go then back and say, shoot, we can fix some of these things too.”
