The Colorado Avalanche will have a big addition to the lineup on Sunday, the return of Nazem Kadri.

Unfortunately, it comes with a big loss as well.

About 40 minutes before puck drop with the Minnesota Wild, the Avalanche announced captain Gabriel Landeskog is out with a lower-body injury. He will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis.

Landeskog took a shot to the mid-section against the Dallas Stars on Friday night, but ultimately returned to the game. He played 22:54 in a thrilling 5-4 shootout win.

After the game, Landeskog showed some Avalanche reporters “a key piece of protective equipment” that had a dent in it after a shot from Cale Makar — make of that what you will.

Head coach Jared Bednar will address reporters after Colorado and Minnesota and might have a minimal update.

For now, the Avs will look to stay hot without Landeskog over the next couple of weeks and lock down the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and NHL playoffs.
