With the final pick of the sixth round, the Broncos went in a direction that many didn’t expect. They didn’t go offense. They didn’t go defense. Instead, Denver went with special teams.

The first punter is off the board: The #Broncos take Florida P Jeremy Crawshaw at 216.

The Broncos were going to have a different punter this season. Riley Dixon departed for Tampa Bay via free agency. Denver added veteran Matt Haack to fill the void. But now, it could be a draft pick that earns that job.

It’s not a flashy pick. It’s not a position many teams target in the draft. But the Broncos used pick No. 216 on a punter.

“Crawshaw is a former rugby punter that will major in yards per punt, but net yards will not impress. Crawshaw gets the ball away quickly, but teams are able to return against him,” CBS Sports said about the prospect.

Training camp will have an unexpected battle this year. Haack vs. Crawshaw is on the horizon.
