The Broncos brought in a tight end with 49 career TDs for a workout

Could the Denver Broncos sign a veteran tight end to fill the void left by Noah Fant?

According to NFL insider Jay Glazer, the team recently worked out TE Kyle Rudolph.

Rudolph has played 11 career NFL seasons, his first 10 with the Vikings and last year with the Giants. He was released by New York in March to save $5M in salary cap room. Broncos GM George Paton is obviously familiar with Rudolph, as they spent several years together in Minnesota.

In 156 career games Rudolph has 479 catches for 4,745 yards and 49 touchdowns. He was a Pro Bowler in 2012 and 2017.

It’s largely assumed that Albert Okwuegbunam will be Denver’s No. 1 tight end when the 2022 season kicks off after the Broncos traded Fant in the Russell Wilson blockbuster trade, but not a given.

Okwuegbunam has potential, but he hasn’t done nearly enough in his career thus far to prove he’s worthy of that role. In 18 career games “Albert O,” as he’s known to so many, has 44 catches for 451 yards and just three touchdowns.

Rudolph would be a nice veteran presence to give Wilson another weapon to go along with the likes of Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick and KJ Hamler. There’s no word yet on if the Broncos will offer him a deal.
