Kareem Jackson has late-night Twitter meltdown about suspension

Maybe Kareem Jackson has taken one too many hits to the head, or in this case, given them out.

Late Tuesday night after the NFL and NFLPA reduced Jackson’s suspension, the Denver Broncos safety took advantage of his now free time to hold an unofficial ama on Twitter. Jackson, 35, posted over 105 times on the social media website. He both provided fans with some answers to his thoughts on a wide range of topics and shared a lot of messages about ‘freeing’ him. Of course, all the posts come after Sean Payton started his Broncos tenure by asking players to get off social media and become “anonymous donors,” something that very much has not happened.

Jackson, a 14-year veteran safety, had his four-game suspension trimmed to two games on appeal—still a big penalty for on-field incidents within the run of play. Jackson has lost around $369,000 in pay, sparking fans to start talking about his finances and that’s where the defender got defensive.

“I’ve played long enough and made a lot (sic) of money! I wouldn’t care,” Jackson responded to a fan saying he could be cut soon.

He had Tweeted after a prior fine that the penalty was “laughable.”  Now he’s reposting fans calling the commissioner soft and the rules akin to flag football. He also reposted multiple fans using vulgar language both at him and about the league.

Jackson reposted both Richard Sherman and Justin Simmons‘ posts calling the hit against the Packers clean. To top it off, he posted a still of the play which shows the head-to-head contact that got him in trouble, once again with a fan saying the play was clean.

Jackson also has two ejections in seven games. His end-zone, concussion-causing shot on Washington tight end Logan Thomas resulted in his ejection from that game. He will miss the Broncos’ games against Kansas City on Oct. 29 and in Buffalo on Nov. 13. He can return to the roster on Nov. 14. It is likely Denver will use P.J. Locke at Jackson’s spot until he can come back.

Former NFL wideout and 104.3 The Fan host, Brandon Stokley, agreed with some other players who had weighed in late night. Stokley thought the hit was clean and wrote to Jackson, “Don’t pay attention to the hate!! You didn’t do anything wrong.”
