Jonathon Cooper says Bo Nix has ‘earned’ all the love from Broncos fans

Denver Broncos edge-rusher Jonathon Cooper and the rest of the team got a treat on Friday.

About 800 fans were at the official first day of training camp, although the Broncos had “acclimation” practices on Wednesday and Thursday after veterans reported on Tuesday.

And with team headquarters under construction, fans had a unique viewpoint sitting in temporary bleachers on the South side of the facility.

One couldn’t help but notice how many of them were wearing No. 10 Bo Nix jerseys, the best QB the Broncos have had since Peyton Manning. After practice, Jonathon Cooper was asked about the incredible support the fanbase is putting behind Nix.

“Yeah, he’s definitely becoming a name, for sure. But he’s earned that. He’s earned that just from his work, from his leadership. From being a young guy coming into the league and taking on the pressure like he has and carrying it with great poise,” Cooper said.

Cooper is just the latest Broncos veteran to praise Nix, joining the likes of Pat Surtain II, Mike McGlinchey and Quinn Meinerz. It’s very clear this team belong to Nix, and Jonathon Cooper says Nix has earned that despite having just one NFL year under his belt.

“He definitely deserves the love, deserves the jersey he wears and all that cool stuff,” Cooper said.

Don’t sleep on Cooper, or this Denver defense, either. He went on to say there’s no reason they can’t be the best unit in the league.

If that happens, plus Nix takes another step, the fever in Broncos Country might reach highs we haven’t seen since Super Bowl 50.

Perhaps, just like that season, another championship is in Denver’s future.
