The Denver Broncos have been linked to star running back Jonathan Taylor through multiple reports over the last two weeks.
But if they’re going to trade for Taylor from the Indianapolis Colts, it may have to wait a little longer.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Thursday morning that the Colts are still open for business, but a deal likely wouldn’t happen until after Sunday’s games.
Sources: The #Colts have received plenty of calls on several players, including Jonathan Taylor, Josh Downs, Grover Stewart and others.
But the belief around the league is that, barring an offer that blows them away, Indianapolis plans to wait until after Sunday’s game vs the… https://t.co/R9AJq2MRRR pic.twitter.com/1p08ZP9gIi

Indy has already traded DeForest Buckner (49ers) and Quenton Nelson (Seahawks), two household names and great players.
But Taylor would be the biggest catch for any team, including the Broncos, because he’s capable of scoring every time he touches the football.
Taylor rushed for more than 1,400 yards in 2021, 2024 and 2025, the three years he’s made the NFL’s Pro Bowl. He also has 77 career rushing touchdowns, including eight this season through eight games to go along with 610 rushing yards.
On the Broncos side of things, they’re excited about rookie Jonah Coleman but are dealing with injuries to RJ Harvey and Tyler Badie.
J.K. Dobbins has the backing of head coach Sean Payton, at least publicly, but he seems to have fallen out of favor based on carry distribution the last two weeks. Dobbins barely saw the field in the second half against both the Cardinals and Chiefs.
The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday afternoon, so even if the Colts wait until Sunday’s games conclude, that gives Payton and Broncos GM George Paton roughly 48 hours to pull off a deal.
Denver will face Carolina and look to improve to 7-2 before entering the bye. Adding a guy like Taylor while the players are on vacation and the front-office works the phones would obviously be a massive get.
Buckle up, things might get crazy early next week.
