Oddmakers have the Broncos looking towards RB, Shedeur Sanders falling
Watch: Von Miller not being on the Broncos is disappointing; George Paton wouldn’t give him the time of day | 1 min
The 2025 NFL Draft is just one day away, and the first round is still full of mysteries surrounding the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Buffaloes stars in Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. As of now, the Broncos hold on to the 20th overall pick, but there has been rumors of them being on the very short list of teams looking to trade up. What does Vegas think will happen when the lights turn on Thursday night?
The Broncos are the favorite for Omarion Hampton
Fanduel Sportsbook has the orange and blue in the mix for multiple running backs on the draft board, with the most likely option being North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton. The Broncos currently are the favorite (+105) to take the 6-foot, 220-pound running back, with the next team being the Pittsburgh Steelers (+650). Hampton could be a three-down running back in Sean Payton’s offense and solve the run game that was mediocre at best for Denver a season ago. In 2024, Hampton put up 1,660 yards on the ground and 15 touchdowns.
The oddsmakers also have Denver in the mix for Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty and Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo, both of whom were finalists for the Heisman Trophy. While Jeanty would require the Broncos to trade up, the orange and blue have the fifth-best odds (+1,700) to take the guy who was just yards away from breaking Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing yards record.
For Skattebo, the Broncos again have the fifth-best odds, but sit at +900 to take him. He proved at Arizona State that while he’s a bruiser, he can catch and throw the ball as well as he led the Sun Devils to a Big 12 title.
Shedeur Sanders could fall
Recently, the Colorado quarterback was being talked about as going in the top-three to either the Cleveland Browns or the New York Giants. Then the talks started to associated him with the New Orleans Saints at pick No. 9. Then it became the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21. Now, talks have even shifted to him falling out of the first round entirely.
Fanduel currently has his draft position over-under set at 21.5. While the under is favored (-168), the over sits nearby at just +118. If the four aforementioned teams pass on him with their original picks, and no one trades up with Denver at the 20th pick to select him, could he end up dropping to the second day?
The Steelers (+175) are currently the favorite to select the all-time leader in passing touchdowns in Boulder, with the Giants (+350), Browns (+360) and Saints (+440) all close behind.
Travis Hunter to Cleveland
Travis Hunter’s draft position has also changed a good amount since Colorado’s pro day at the start of the month. There were talks about the Giants and the New England Patriots both being interested in him, but the oddsmakers have him as a heavy favorite (-1,200) to be the No. 2 overall pick and end up with Cleveland. He sits at +700 to be taken with the third pick, and +7,000 to be the fourth pick. Unless a blindside trade happens in the next 30 hours, all signs are pointing to the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner heading up north.
While Hunter’s status seems to be locked in, there are still many questions that loom regarding what the Broncos will do and where Sanders will end up as the Draft nears.
