Broncos solve their right tackle issue by bringing an old friend home

The Broncos have filled one of their biggest remaining voids in free agency.

According to 9NEWS Broncos insider Mike Klis, right tackle Billy Turner is coming back to Denver.

Turner has already been a member of the Broncos. He played with the team for three games in 2016, one game in 2017 and then all 16 in 2018. He started 11 of those at guard that season for Denver.

Turner then headed to Green Bay, protecting Aaron Rodgers in the competitive NFC North. He played in 43 games the last three seasons, starting all of them. Turner was widely regarded as one of the best tackles left on the market, playing tackle nearly full-time after moving from guard in 2019.

There was obviously a connection between Turner and the Broncos because of his time here, but also with two former Packers coaches on the staff in head coach Nathaniel Hackett and OC Justin Outten.

A lot of Broncos fans weren’t thrilled with the idea of heading into training camp with just Calvin Anderson and Tom Compton on the roster to compete for the right tackle spot, and this solves that issues. It’s another excellent addition by George Paton, of which he’s had many the last 16 days.
