Broncos-Patriots inactives: Troy Franklin out; Elijah Moore makes Denver debut

DENVER — The Broncos will not only play the AFC Championship Game without their starting quarterback, but without their second-leading receiver, too.

Denver scratched wide receiver Troy Franklin for Sunday’s game after he suffered a hamstring injury in the Jan. 17 divisional-playoff win over the Buffalo Bills. Franklin finished the regular season with 709 yards and six touchdowns on 65 receptions, ranking second on the club behind Courtland Sutton in all three categories.

Franklin saw limited work all three days in practice this week.

Replacing Franklin will be Elijah Moore, who makes his Broncos debut after joining the team’s practice squad last month.

Also scratched for the Broncos’ first AFC Championship appearance in a decade are backup center Alex Forsyth and special-teams ace JL Skinner. Skinner was limited in Friday’s practice due to a quadriceps injury after seeing full work in the previous two days. Forsyth suffered an ankle injury late in the win over Buffalo.

With Forsyth out, Sam Mustipher will back up Luke Wattenberg, who will make his return after being activated from injured reserve following a three-game absence.
