Broncos add veteran receiver to practice squad

The Broncos added a skill-position player to their practice squad as they begin their December stretch run — but despite their struggles on the ground since J.K. Dobbins’ Lisfranc injury, it’s not a running back.

Denver will sign ex-New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Elijah Moore to its practice squad in advance of returning to the practice field on Wednesday. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero was first to report the move.

The Broncos visited with Moore on Monday.

MOORE JOINS BRONCOS AFTER FRUSTRATING BILLS STINT

Moore played nine games for the Bills earlier this season — including two starts — but struggled to gain traction within their offense, accumulating 112 yards on just nine catches after being targeted 17 times with one drop. The Bills released him last week in what NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported was a “mutual parting” amid reports that Moore was displeased with his role within the Bills offense.

He was a healthy scratch for the Bills in Week 5 and again in Week 11. Moore never had more than two catches in a game for the Bills before his release, which came after Buffalo added Brandin Cooks to its roster.

A second-round pick of the Jets in 2021, Moore was traded to the Browns in March 2023. He signed with Buffalo on May 1, just after this year’s NFL Draft. His two years with Cleveland were his most consistent, as he accumulated 59 and 61 receptions, respectively, during the 2023 and 2024 seasons for 640 and 538 yards in each campaign.

Moore posted a career-high-matching eight receptions against the Broncos last season while playing for the Browns; his 111 yards in that Monday Night Football game represented the second-highest tally of his career.
