Broncos meeting with all the top tight ends at NFL Scouting Combine

INDIANAPOLIS — Q. Which top tight end prospect are the Denver Broncos meeting with at the NFL Scouting Combine?

A. All of them.

Just as they did with the quarterback position last year, the Broncos are spending time diving into the tight-end prospects on hand, as Penn State’s Tyler Warren, Michigan’s Colston Loveland, Texas’ Gunnar Helm, Oregon’s Terrance Ferguson and Elijah Arroyo of Miami (Fla.) all confirmed formal meetings with Broncos officials.

Teams are limited to 45 prospect interviews over the course of the Combine, which continues through Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

“We were just really chopping up film, talking ball, talking shop,” Loveland said of his conversation with the Broncos. “I feel like it was a good meeting.”

Arroyo got a similar vibe from his 15-minute meeting with Broncos brass.

“It was cool. They have a cool staff,” he said. “I really like those guys. We went over a lot of boardwork stuff and we were watching my film. Nothing too crazy.”

Ferguson and Helm are both local products — Ferguson from Heritage High School and Helm from Cherry Creek.

Ferguson has the most familiarity with Broncos quarterback Bo Nix of any of the tight ends from their two seasons together at Oregon, but Arroyo has come across Nix, as well.

“It would be fun. I know Bo Nix can sling the ball a little bit,” Arroyo said. “I actually met him one time when I was on one of my visits at Auburn. Being able to be a weapon for him, that would be great.”

The tight ends on hand for the Combine will work out Friday. Loveland will not participate due to recent shoulder surgery, which left his right arm in a sling as he answered questions Thursday, but he said he should be good to go for non-contact work by OTAs in May for whatever team drafts him.
