Bo Nix ‘received votes’ but didn’t crack top-10 of ESPN’s QB rankings

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix had a great rookie year.

And people around the NFL took notice.

Nix finished third in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting after throwing for 29 touchdowns, more than 3,700 yards and completing 66.3 percent of his passes. The 10-7 Broncos made the playoffs for the first time since 2015, and Bo Nix certainly looks like Denver’s best QB since Peyton Manning.

On Monday, ESPN released its list of the top-10 quarterbacks in the NFL entering 2025, as voted on by league executives, coaches and scouts.

Nix didn’t crack the list, but he did make the “receiving votes” category, along with the likes of Kyler Murray (Cardinals), Brock Purdy (49ers), Dak Prescott (Cowboys), Aaron Rodgers (Steelers) and Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins).

C.J. Stroud (Texans) and Jordan Love (Packers) were both honorable mention. The top-10 consisted, in order, of Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs), Josh Allen (Bills), Joe Burrow (Bengals), Lamar Jackson (Ravens), Jayden Daniels (Commanders), Matthew Stafford (Rams), Justin Herbert (Chargers), Jared Goff (Lions), Jalen Hurts (Eagles) and Baker Mayfield (Buccaneers).

Daniels won Offensive Rookie of the Year, so seeing him in the top-10 isn’t a surprise, although No. 5 feels a little high. Only Daniels and Bo Nix appeared at all from the decorated 2024 NFL Draft QB class.

In the AFC West it’s always going to be tough, with Mahomes at No. 1 and Herbert at No. 7. Bo Nix is clearly ahead of Geno Smith with the Raiders, based on these votes.

There’s been a lot of debate this offseason about where Nix stacks up with NFL quarterbacks, including some curious rankings coming out, but this feels pretty fair. He’s clearly in the middle of the league right now, but a great sophomore season should have Bo Nix in the top-10 this time next year.
