Bo Nix: Broncos must stop letting close games ‘fall in another team’s hands’

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix had his team ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers 20-13 in the fourth quarter on Sunday.

But just like last week, Nix and the Broncos couldn’t finish the job.

Denver gave up 10 straight points, including another walk-off field goal, to fall at the buzzer 23-20. They’re now 1-2 on the season while L.A. improved to 3-0.

After the heartbreaking defeat, Bo Nix was asked about the Broncos inability to finish games. He acknowledged the pain, while also noting he doesn’t have a time machine.

“Well, it stinks. It’s definitely not fun, it’s not enjoyable. But all you can do is go to the next game. I’ve never been able to figure out how to go back and change anything yet. I’m still working on that,” Nix said.

On the day, Nix finished a pedestrian 14-25 for 153 yards and one touchdown. He missed deep throws twice to Marvin Mims Jr. that could’ve been scores, and also one late to Courtland Sutton that would’ve kept the Broncos offense on the field.

Instead, they punted, Chargers QB Justin Herbert moved the ball down the field and Los Angeles kicker Cameron Dicker connected on a 43-yard field goal at the buzzer.

Bo Nix is keeping the glass half full, but knows Denver needs to start learning how to win.

“I think the most important thing is we’ve got a long season ahead of us. Instead of going back and changing things, all we can do is move forward and change them in the future and do things differently and find a way to not let these close games fall in another team’s hands,” Nix said.

And with the football in the Colts’ hands last week and the Chargers this week, the Broncos have left the field devastated two Sundays in a row.

There’s a lot of season left, but Bo Nix and his teammates can’t afford many more of these types of losses.
